Maritta Koch-Weser receives São Paulo State Government Medal

The anthropologist Maritta Koch-Weser, Coordinator of the Research Group on the Ever-Changing Amazon of IEA, is one of the personalities honored this year with the ' Medal "João Pedro Cardoso", the principal environmental honor granted by the Government of the State of São Paulo in Brazil. The other honorees were Marina Silva, Maurice Strong and Fabio Feldman. On 19 June, the medals were awarded by Governor Geraldo Alckmin during the Rio + 20 meeting at Pavilhão de São Paulo in the Park of the athletes, in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.
Maritta Koch-Weser is a member of Avalon's Advisory Council.
