Dutch Postcode Lottery Supports Avalon 2009
The Dutch Postcode Lottery supports Avalon’s work with € 500,000
At the Postcode Lottery’s yearly Gala Meeting on 5 February 2009, Avalon received a cheque worth € 500,000. Besides this amount, the Lottery awarded Avalon and Ark Foundation a further € 2,860,376 for an extra project.
Avalon and its partners from the project countries see the Postcode Lottery’s support as an important contribution to the execution of their goals. The cheque enables them to realize sustainable progress for man and nature in vulnerable agricultural regions worldwide. This is accomplished by the preservation of valuable landscapes, the introduction of organic agriculture and environmentally safe measures and the improvement of the living conditions of people in rural areas.
The Dutch Postcode Lottery, which is the largest charity lottery of the Netherlands, supports organisations active in the fields of nature and environment, development cooperation, human rights and social cohesion in the Netherlands. Avalon is one of the 57 organisations that receive yearly financial contributions from the lottery’s proceeds.
